ANNETTE FUNICELLO became an overnight sensation on TV's The Mickey Mouse Club. The only one of the 24 original Mouseketeers personally cast by Walt Disney, Annette captured the hearts of youngsters and adults alike. She was soon a top selling recording artist and a movie star, appearing in the "Beach" comedies and in such Disney films as The Shaggy Dog (1959) and Babes in Toyland (1961). Known as "America's Girl Next Door," Annette is still, simply and sweetly, just that. Annette Funicello was named a Disney Legend in 1992.
To Annette Funicello, Mickey is heaven sent, and she designed her statue, "Always My Angel, Mickey," to reflect just that-Mickey wears wings and a halo, and stands on a cloud. |
