STAR JONES, lawyer, former prosecutor, best-selling author and co-host of ABC's Emmy-nominated show, The View, is known for her candor, confidence and ability to clarify complex legal and social issues. Star earned her B.A. at American University and her Juris Doctorate at the University of Houston. She served with the Brooklyn District Attorney's office on a number of high-profile cases, before debuting in 1991 as a studio commentator for Court Time. She went on to serve as the NBC legal correspondent for Today and Nightly News before launching her own syndicated show, Jones & Jury. With the 1997 launch of The View, Star expanded her commentary to include a variety of community and social issues. In 2001 Star and her fellow co-hosts were awarded the Safe Horizon Champion Award for their efforts to raise awareness about issues of importance to girls and women. Star, who resides in New York City, is extensively involved with a number of philanthropic organizations and charitable foundations, including Girls, Inc.
