Existing comment: FESS PARKER became a cultural icon for his portrayal of frontiersman Davy Crockett in Walt Disney's Emmy® Award-winning television miniseries. Fess was personally selected by Walt to star in the "Crockett" segments of his Disneyland TV series. The shows were a ratings blockbuster and created a national craze that sold $300 million worth of merchandise, including coonskin caps. Fess also starred in Disney films including The Great Locomotive Chase (1956) and Old Yeller (1957) and in the 1960s, he portrayed another coonskin-wearing pioneer in the long-running TV series Daniel Boone. Today, Fess is a successful businessman with Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn and Winery in Santa Barbara, California. He was named a Disney Legend in 1991.

From one Disney legend to another, Fess helps celebrate Mickey's anniversary with "FrontEAR Tales," depicting Mickey in Davy Crokett's famous coonskin cap.
