Existing comment: MARLEE MATLIN made her motion picture debut in Children of a Lesser God for which she received the Academy Award for Best Actress. At age 21, she was the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar, and the only deaf performer to win an Oscar. On TV, Marlee starred in the 1989 telefilm Bridge to Silence, marking her first speaking role. Marlee was nominated for two Emmy awards for her guest turns on Seinfeld and Picket Fences. In 2000, Marlee received her third Emmy Award nomination for ABC's The Practice and has also starred on the Emmy Award-winning series, The West Wing.
