MICHELLE KWAN is a champion figure skater who won the silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and the bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. In every competition, Michelle - whose Chinese name is Kwan Wing Shan-wears a gold dragon necklace that her grandma gave her many years ago. At the age of six, she entered her first skating competition and finished first. Michelle skated at the World Figure Skating Championships for the first time in 1994, when she was just 13 years old and finished eighth. Michelle won her first world title in 1996 and went on to win world titles again in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2003.
