After successful albums and tours, the band and Bob decided to take a hiatus in 1999. (A new album, 3 Sides, was released in 2003.) In 2001, two of Bob's mortgage company assistants signed him up for The Bachelorette. Although Bob didn't win Trista's heart, he won the hearts of people everywhere. After numerous appearances on Oprah, ABC announced Bob Guiney as the star of the new 2003 series of The Bachelor.
