gouache and ink on paper

Drop for Overture is the study for a lumia backdrop for Americana, a satirical revue for Broadway written and produced by J. P. McEvoy, who commissioned Wilfred to compose three "mobile settings" that could be projected during the performance. Wilfred designed Drop for Overture for the opening of one of the revue's acts. His contract described the setting as a "decorative mobile composition to be used on a specially painted drop curtain in front as a prelude to the performance."
