Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Sonata for Violin and Piano, K. 379 (1781)

Mozart famously claimed to have composed this sonata over the span of one hour, which is evident from the relative untidiness of the manuscript. It was written for violist, Antonio Brunetti, and performed shortly thereafter. Because he lacked the time to write it out, Mozart performed the keyboard part from his head.

The manuscript was subsequently acquired by the Bondi family in Austria. It was confiscated from them by the Nazis during WWII and deposited at the Austrian National Library. After the war, the Bondi family reclaimed the manuscript, and then later sold it to the Library of Congress.
