The passage of the Espionage Age of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918 proved critical in limiting wartime civil liberties. Of the two acts, the Espionage Act had the greater influence. The third provision of the act prohibited interference with the draft, opening the door to government interference in civil liberties during World War I. |
