Existing comment: Lincoln and His Cabinet: The First Reading of the Emancipation Proclamation
Lithograph, ca 1864
Much has been made of Lincoln's selections for cabinet secretaries and the then unconventional practice of assembling a group of advisors who represented the best at what they did, regardless of party affiliation or personal support of the President. This print depicts the Lincoln's Cabinet as he shared with them the Emancipation Proclamation.
