Existing comment: The Complete Works of Shakespeare Volume 3
Paper, ca 1854-1856
By 1861, Abraham Lincoln had access to many volumes of Shakespeare's plays, which were typically produced in handsome volumes boasting scholarly commentary, beautiful artwork, and famous Shakespearean actors. At the time, none were more famous than the Booth family including Junius Brutus Booth (father), Edwin Booth (son) and John Wilkes Booth (Lincoln's eventual assassinator).
