DC author Laura Krauss Melmed wrote her first book a little over a decade ago to answer her son Jonathan's question, "What was the first song ever sung?" She has gone on to publish many award-winning picture books, both fiction and non-fiction, including the classic lullaby, "I Love You as Much," "The Rainbabies," and "Capital! Washington, D.C. from A to Z." In addition to writing, Laura likes cooking for friends and family, hiking, typing with a cat on her lap, traveling and, of course, reading.
