This is a picture of the memorial to former Chilean Ambassador Orlando Letelier and his aide Ronni Karpen Moffitt. They were riding in a car when a remote-controlled bomb in their car blew them up here on September 21, 1976. It turned out that he had been killed by the Chilean secret police because of his outspoken criticism of the Pinochet regime's hard-line rule. Three suspects were eventually caught, the second being nabbed in April 1991 based on a tip received after a segment on the bombing appeared on the TV show "America's Most Wanted."
