Janis Joplin, who was known for her performances at the Monterey Pop Festival and at Woodstock among others, was a contemporary of rock and roll legends Jimi Hendrix and the Doors and one of few successful women in the industry at the time. Her career would only last five years, but during that period before her death in 1970 she made a lasting impact on rock and roll with her unique voice and larger than life personality. |
