Visual arts have featured and promoted the work of musicians for centuries, but in the 1960s, graphic designers set out to promote concerts in eye-catching ways that led to a poster-collecting craze. As the national distribution of products increased, marketers capitalized on television coverage of performers by placing their images in comic books and magazines, and on lunch boxes -- even cereal boxes. Steve Geppi's passion for pop culture led him to acquire posters, magazines and collectibles that reflected the new culture built around rock music.
