On January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Sicknick responded to a riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, District of Columbia. Officer Sicknick was injured while physically engaging with individuals involved in mass civil disorder. Officer Sicknick was pepper sprayed and then taken to a room for decontamination where he collapsed and had a seizure. He was then transported to the hospital where he died the following day. |
