Note the destroyed portion on the top of the arm marker. The Marines had come to town in the 1930's, dug up the arm, verified it was Jackson's, and then reburied it in a steel coffin. Then they put their own marker on top of the existing marker telling everyone that they'd been here and verified it. The NPS removed theirs. |
