Michelle Angela Ortiz's "The Courage Within Me"
The Courage Within Me, 2019, Acrylic paintings reproduced on plastic panels
The Courage Within Me is a multi-panel, moveable, collaborative work of art that answers the following questions: How do you define courage?; What gives you courage?; Why is having courage important in this world?; Who is the most courageous person that you know? In collaboration with the Kennedy Center Education program and students from four classrooms spanning D.C., artist Michelle Angela Ortiz worked with youth in creating a design that demonstrates how they define courage.
