The Blue Marble
This was the first full photograph of planet Earth from space, taken by astronauts on their way to the Moon, from a distance of about 29,000 kilometers. They described the planet as "beautiful," "tiny" and "fragile." For the first time ever, our world could be seen from an outside perspective, as a solitary whole, and "the Blue Marble" has captured imaginations
ever since.
