Gérard Araud, France's ambassador to the United States, delivered the keynote at the Newseum ceremony on Monday, June 6, honoring journalists killed around the world in 2015. The Committee to Protect Journalists calculated 73 journalists were killed that year. The country with the highest number was Syria (14) but France lost nine including those killed at Charlie Hebdo and another killed in the Friday the 13th attacks in November. |
