Existing comment: Surrender at Fort Sackville:
George Rogers Clark took formal possession of Fort Sackville on February 25, 1779 at 10:00 AM. General Hamilton and several other officers were sent to Williamsburg as prisoners of war. The surrender of this British fort secured the entire Northwest Territory for the infant United States and was one of Indiana's major contributions to the American Revolution.
