Existing comment: 250 feet high and 6,000 years old, Amboy Crater is one of the best examples of a volcanic cinder cone in the Mojave Desert. Within a 2-3 hour hike that winds along a footpath to the top of the cone, visitors can revel in scenic views of the surrounding area and perhaps spot clusters of wildflowers from late January through March.
