This large room was likely divided into two during Henson's time. Above, you can see a "summer beam" -- a thick piece of wood used to bear the weight of a timber-framed house. A partition wall would have been nailed to the beam. A Riley descendant also recalled the house having two first-story bedrooms in the 1920s. |
