The First Map
Herzfeld's survey of Pasargadae produced the first map of the site, which Krefter drew up. It accurately records the topography of the palace grounds. In addition, the map illustrates how the Achaemenids carefully calculated their buildings' locations to take full advantage of available water for the gardens.
