Osborne Anderson attended a secret meeting with John Brown and 44 others at Chatham, Ontario, in 1858. Known as the Chatham Convention, the group met in this small schoolhouse to ratify a "Provisional Constitution" for a United States free of slavery. Anderson became a member of the new revolutionary government's congress. |
