This pair of roll mills produced Lesmok Powder, a semi-smokeless sporting powder. Mixing the ingredients of Lesmok powder was a hazardous process, because it contained nitrocellulose. To protect workers, heavy double "flash walls" were built. The mill operators could watch the process through peepholes built into the wall. When the powder was finished, an operator stopped the mills by closing off the supply of water from the mill race. This building will eventually be restored. |
