Existing comment: Entertaining and Alterations:
Originally two rooms, guests often gathered in this area -- now called the Sitting Room -- for dining and relaxation, including General William T. Sherman and President Theodore Roosevelt. After Gifford inherited the mansion, Cornelia agreed to be responsible for its upkeep and alterations. One of her notable additions is the Finger Bowl, an outdoor dining area with a watery table. A passionate gardener, Cornelia painstakingly redesigned much of the immediate landscape surrounding Grey Towers.
