Gifford Pinchot's Bedroom:
Gifford Pinchot roughed it when he camped and did so apparently in his own bedroom. With a life of high powered demands, stress, important people, luxuries and money, the one place where he could get away from it all at Grey Towers looked pretty austere. The mattress sits on a simple metal frame barely long enough for Pinchot, who measured over six feet.
Around the room:
Pinchot's plain dresser and desk. The latter sits in front of the fireplace, a practice he apparently employed after steam heat was installed in the house. |
