Discharge Certificate, 1865
Hamilton received this certificate when the Civil War ended and he was discharged from service on June 1, 1865. It notes that he received his final Army pay on that date as well. It also appears that Hamilton used the certificate as evidence to attempt to collect an enlistment bounty from the War Department in 1899. The claim was denied. |
