Existing comment: The Gettysburg Railroad Station as Sketched ca July 4 or 5, 1863:
Alfred R. Waud, illustrator for Harper's Weekly magazine, sketched this view of the first block of Carlisle Street. It provides the only unobstructed, contemporary view of the station, in the right foreground. The railroad ore cars on their sides across Carlisle Street and other debris were positioned by Confederates to serve as a barricade against a possible Union attack. The Sheads and Buehler warehouse is seen just beyond the station building.
