Existing comment: The Type of Wood-Burning Locomotive Used on the Gettysburg Railroad:
This style locomotive, pictured ca 1863 at the Hanover Branch depot in Hanover, Pennsylvania, moved passenger and freight trains daily between Gettysburg, Hanover, and Hanover Junction, a trip of thirty miles.

Hanover Junction and Depot: Connector to National Destinations:
By connecting at the Junction with the north-south line of the Northern Central Railroad (tracks on the far right), Gettysburg passengers and freight could travel to and from other railroad centers. The train in the center was on the short-line track to Hanover and Gettysburg.
