Existing comment: Cased pair of Model 1861 Navy revolvers with accessories
Presented to Major General George Armstrong Custer, 1863

This highly customized and famed Colt 1861 Navy pistol set is believed to have been sold by Elizabeth "Libby" Custer after her husband's death, when she was under financial stress. Tradition states the presentation nameplates were removed to avoid embarrassment for the family. Records indicate that the plates were located in the 1960s but have since been lost to time.
