This was the original FDR Memorial. Before he died, Roosevelt was asked what type of memorial he'd like. He said he'd like a block of marble, no bigger than the desk in front of him, with such-and-such text on it. So that's what they did. The much larger FDR Memorial came about in 1990's. |
