On September 11, these 40 men and women faced the unimaginable. Their determined actions in the skies above this place prevented an even greater loss to the nation.
They came from varied backgrounds, and from across the nation and around the world. Their photographs record moments of lives richly lived.
The Congressional Gold Medal, authorized by the Fallen Heroes Act of 2011, recognizes the "heroic and noble" actions of the passengers and crew on Flight 93. |
