Flight 93 hits the ground travelling at 563 mph and carrying more than 5,000 gallons of jet fuel, exploding on impact, and throwing debris into the nearby hemlock grove. There are no survivors.
Eyewitnesses report a fiery crash in the Pennsylvania countryside. A 911 dispatcher radios fire and emergency medical personnel: "Large aircraft down in the area of Lambertsville Road." Arriving within minutes of the crash, first responders find a smoking crater, burning trees, and the ground littered with fragments of the plane.
Authorities quickly realize the crash of Flight 93 is part of the larger attack on the nation.
