Existing comment: Sarangbang
In a traditional Korea home, or hanok, the sarangbang is the master's quarters, used for studying, writing, leisure, and receiving guests or fellow scholars. The sarangbang was generally reserved for men, reflecting the Confucian principles that prevailed during the Joseon Dynasty, including prescribed roles and spaces for men and women, owners and servants, and older and younger generations. It also decorated sparingly, in the interest of frugality. The overall design of a hanok, built using wood, stone, earth, paper and other natural materials, is intended to achieve harmony between man and nature.
