Existing comment: Hatra Period Art:
The Hatra era in Iraq was approximately between 400 BC and 300 AD. Not much is known about the early stages of this period; however is known is that it [sic] became a popular trading post on the Silk Road and was known for its architecture and blending of eastern and western styles, specifically Greco-Roman influence. The ancient city of Hatra is located in the modern day Ninawa province and is now called al-Hadr. This statue is an example of the influence and spread of Roman style art during that era.
