Welcome to our 100-year old house
Construction of this building is from between 1908 and 1911 -- It features ones of the oldest elevators in town. The Argentine Republic bought it in 1913.
It was intended to be the residence of a Republican Senator from Pennsylvania, and was one of the first buildings designed by a team that included an African-American architect, Julian Abele, from Horace Trumbauer's firm.
At the time, Dupont Circle was an upscale neighborhood in Washington DC, and the Argentine Republic was one of the first countries to establish its Embassy in what later became one of the city's liveliest areas.
