Metamorphose
On display in the Embassy theatre is a tapestry "curtain" made of aluminum created especially for the Embassy in 1988 by Mariette Rousseau Vermette (1926-2006), an Officer of the Order of Canada and internationally celebrated artist. Made in Canada, each piece of polished aluminum was fabricated specifically for this one-of-a-kind curtain. The curtain was designed to represent the Canada-US relationship, more particularly the close relationship of our peoples. While seated in the theatre in front of the curtain, we see each other reflected back at ourselves -- two peoples connected by common values. |
