President John F. Kennedy's Sunglasses Restored

John F Kennedy's sunglasses were brought to the Frame Mender for complete restoration. They were purchased by a local collector at one of the famous Kennedy auctions about 35 years ago for $50,000, but were stored inappropriately and the plastic (zyl) deteriorated.

When the frames were brought to The Frame Mender, we were given the plastic bag that included the lenses that were pristine, dust residue from the disintegrated plastic and hundreds of shards of puzzle like pieces of the frame. We spent over 250 hours resurrecting President Kennedy's sunglasses.

When President Kennedy wore the sunglasses. This picture was taken in Tampa Florida on November 19, 1963, three days before JFK was shot in Dallas.
