In order to integrate the existing natural features into the Park's design, Olmsted and Vaux crafted the 11-acre Harlem Meer out of a tidal waterbody (the Harlem Creek) near the base of McGowan's Pass.
The design created a naturalistic shoreline at the base of the Fort Clinton overlook. |
