Former Senator John Warner, seen here with your intrepid photographer, passed on May 25 2021. Although a Republican, he believed in building coalitions and was definitely out of step as the party went crazy under Newt Gingrich and the former president. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he was also the sixth husband of actress Elizabeth Taylor.
He didn't like posed photos and always wanted to be photographed being in conversation with people, whereas some of us really like posed photos, hence this photo from 2017. I appreciated that he took the time to send a written note thanking me after I dropped off some photos of him at his office. |
