General Bragg moved up to Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain by September 24, effectively cutting the Federal supply line into Chattanooga. Bragg then commenced a new plan -- a siege to starve the Union army into submission. "We held him at our mercy," boasted Bragg, "and his destruction was only a question of time."
