Existing comment: Longstreet Falls to Friendly Fire:
Just twelve months after Jackson fell mortally wounded at Chancellorsville, Confederate General James Longstreet fell grievously wounded in the neck a few miles away at the Wilderness. Like Jackson, Longstreet fell to friendly fire in the midst of one of his greatest achievements. His flank attack the morning of May 6 sent Union forces on the Orange Plank Road tumbling back in confusion.
Unlike Jackson, Longstreet survived his wound, though it would be months before he returned to service as Lee's most relied-upon subordinate.
