Existing comment: Glen Echo Park
Served by the trolley from DC, the Park opened as a Chautauqua Assembly in 1891, but closed a year later when a rumor warned that the Potomac River could cause malaria. The rustic stone structures were sold and converted into an amusement park with one of the largest swimming pools in the country. In the 1930s, the original stone trolley station was modified with Art Deco styling.
