Industry Comes TO Blackwater
The Blackwater area has been home to industry for many years. The timber industry once thrived here, which in turn fostered the shipbuilding and railroad industries. In addition, the canning of seafood, the canning of seafood, the canning of tomatoes, and the trapping of muskrats were big businesses in Dorchester County.
However, with industry came more use of resources like the precious marsh and forest ecosystem the refuge now protects. |
