Jermaine L. Fleming's interest in art began at the age of 5. "School arts and crafts were the center of my joy, and it was then that I learned I was creatively inclined," he remembers. In his teens, Fleming realized that success would take more than innate talent; and, eager to polish his skills, he took classes throughout his high school years to perfect his drawing ability. Then he went on to create other types of works, including paintings and sculpture. Currently, as a 36-year-old with a career working for East Coast beverage distributor Lift Off Distribution, the Maryland resident is planning to study graphic design and marketing. In the meantime, he decided to take on Red Bull Art of Can.
"I love art and a challenge!" Fleming says, flashing his warm smile. "I was inspired by the Red Bull can and the love for fashion." Finding enough cans was easy – he could pick them up right at work. So for six weeks, Fleming devoted part of every day to creating his two "Divas." The artist acknowledges that the assembly process was challenging, however he pronounces the end result to be not only a success but also "the start of a new fashion concept!" |
