For the past 17 years, the husband-wife team of Sal and Nancy Moccia have been producing decorative painting and murals, mostly for residential settings, but also for commercial applications. Graduates of Parsons School of Design, these Long Island residents share a love for all forms of art and thoroughly enjoy experimenting with a variety of mediums and materials, even those well outside their painting profession. They note, "We were motivated to enter Red Bull Art of Can by the idea of creating a piece of art, not only from a material we normally don't use, but also creating something beautiful and interesting from an aluminum can that would be tossed aside."

The pair's interest in the environment is reflected in their love for U.S. National Parks, especially Yellowstone, so they decided to create a functioning, oversize souvenir snow globe that they call "Old Faithbull." In all, about 300 cans were re-claimed for the piece, some of them heated and even burned to create the deep chocolate-colored heads on the bison that flank the dome. When the interactive work is turned on, the "snow" swirls for optimal effect. As the artists note, "What better way to pay homage to a protected area than by using recycled materials?"
