Existing comment: The portraits before you are of William and Margaret Ann Miller Roulette. The furniture is from their home, which stands today 700 yards behind the visitor center. The Roulette farm was one of the first established in the area and was known for successful production as well as for its serene beauty.
The Battle of Antietam brought a sharp contrast, as the farm was in the path of thousands of Union soldiers marching towards the Sunken Road. Intense fighting swept through the area and the Roulette's lives would be forever changed.
