Existing comment: Mr Lincoln in front of the DC Courthouse. The statue was the first statue of Lincoln installed in the city. The courthouse, previously DC's first City Hall, was designed by George Hadfield who also designed the Lee Mansion in Arlington. The court house was the scene of numerous court cases including the 1881/82 trial of Charles Guiteau, convicted here for the assassination of President McKinley. Other famous cases here include the trial of DC mayor Marion Barry
